A Premiere Golf Course, Right in Statesboro

Forest Heights Country Club was originally a 9-hole golf facility opened in 1947. In the early 1960’s, the club membership acquired adjoining land and added a second nine. The original course designer was George Cobb. In 1990, Bob Cupp redesigned several holes and made changes to all green complexes. The course has mini verde Bermuda grass on greens which are in immaculate condition most of the year thanks to our course superintendent, Joe Glisson and his crew.

Forest Heights also offers a state-of-the-art teaching and performance center for members and guests. We offer lessons individually or in a package. Using V1 video, one of our three golf professionals can analyze player’s swings and help make necessary corrections to improve their scores. Also offered in the performance center are the top four club manufacturers. Members may come out and try clubs from Titleist, Taylor Made, Callaway and Ping. Again, one of our golf professionals would be happy to take you through the club fitting process to make sure you have the right equipment.

Every year the club conducts 10-12 club sponsored events along with 6-8 charity outings. Forest Heights has been fortunate to host many Georgia State Golf Association events throughout the years. The Schenkel Collegiate Invitational is hosted every spring by the Georgia Southern Men’s Golf team. Our Member-Guest continues to be the staple event for our club every May.

The golf shop offers quality apparel from Foot Joy, Stitch, Johnnie-O and others. The selection of golf bags from Titleist, Taylor Made, Callaway, Ping and Stitch give our members many options. We are fully stocked with golf balls, gloves, hats, sunglasses and more.

We offer a cart plan for members who play a significant amount of golf. For one low price, you may play as much as you would like in a cart each month. Private carts are allowed providing they have been approved by the professional staff and we have an application on file with proof of insurance.

The club offers a driving range program where you may hit unlimited balls for a set price. The practice facilities are available for member use with one putting green, two chipping greens and a nice hitting area for the full swing. The FHCC teaching center is available for club fitting and in depth golf lessons with our teaching instructor, John Smith. All three of our professionals, John Smith, Drew Pittman and Walt Garvin, are all available for private instruction.

As Head Golf Professional at Forest Heights Country Club it is my job to help the membership enjoy the time they spend on and around the golf course. Whether it’s assisting our Director of Golf, Walt Garvin, in planning, organizing and conducting our numerous tournaments and events throughout the year or giving golf lessons to help improve the games of our golfers, I’m always focused on enhancing the experience at FHCC.

One of the things I enjoy the most is teaching kids and beginners of all ages how to play the wonderful game of golf. Seeing new golfers improve and later become active participants in our club events gives me great satisfaction. Growing our membership through helping to create a new generation of golfers is one of the best ways to ensure the continued success and growth of the club. To support us, please remember to rake bunkers, repair divots and ball marks and avoid driving carts near tees and greens.
